How it Started

“Dude, Julian, your phone’s ringing again!” Lucas, my business partner, shouts across the office.


Over seven years, we built a fantastic team and made mixed-reality apps and games for some of the world’s largest Fortune 500 companies…


But that was about to change!


“Hi, Julian here…”


“Hey, Julian… look, there’s no easy way to say this, but our budget is cut.”


“How much?” I ask.


“All of it…”


My heart sank into my chest.


Fuck! What was I going to tell the team?


The year was 2020, the year of COVID.


The next day, our second-largest client called with the same news. Budget cuts!


Just like that, seven years of hard work and relationship-building … Puff gone!


It would be easy to blame COVID, but the agency was built on shaky ground. Over 90% of our revenue came from those two clients.


Even before the pandemic, I knew we needed a solution, but I didn’t know how to replicate the success we had.
